Global Tax Manager, Copenhagen
Application deadline: October 26, 2026
More than 75 million people use Vivino to discover, rate and buy wine. Selling it across borders makes for some of the most varied tax work you will find. As our Global Tax Manager, you will keep our international business compliant and help it grow on solid ground. No wine knowledge needed: we will happily teach you that part.
Build the tax foundations on which a global wine marketplace can grow
You will manage tax compliance across Vivino's markets in the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific. Selling wine adds its own layers of tax, many of them tied to the stock we hold and ship ourselves. You will plan and run our global tax calendar with our external partners, so nothing is late and nothing comes as a surprise. Just as important, you will spot where our tax processes can be simpler, safer or automated, and make the change. And when Finance, Legal or our commercial teams need tax explained in plain language, they will come to you.
This full-time role reports to our CFO and is based in Copenhagen, with a hybrid working pattern of at least three days a week in our office. You will work closely with our Global Corporate Controller, our VP & General Counsel and our commercial team, and contribute to company-wide tax planning.
Success in this role can look like this: you own the tax setup and processes for our Commerce business, including excise, VAT and audits. You have completed a tax review across all our geographies, with the risks mapped and a plan in place to reduce them. And tax questions from across the business get clear, timely answers, with Controlling and Legal relying on you as their tax partner.
Day to day, you will:
Prepare and review our tax returns and digital platform reporting, and make sure every filing and payment is accurate and on time
Manage US state and local tax (SALT), from sales and use tax and nexus thresholds to excise, environmental tax and bottle deposits, and support VAT reporting across the EU and APAC
Keep our transfer pricing policies and documentation in order, and the tax lines in our financial statements and forecasts accurate
Run tax audits across jurisdictions and support the year-end audit, working together with tax authorities, external advisers and our own teams
Follow changes in tax law and explain what they mean for Vivino
Thorough with the detail, and clear with the people
While we prefer not to confine anyone to rigid categories, we believe you will thrive and succeed in this position if you look closely at the facts and data before reaching a conclusion. You keep building your tax expertise and turn it into practical solutions. You organise your work well, hold it to a high standard, meet your deadlines, and check the details because, in tax, accuracy is the job. You explain complex topics clearly so people understand them, and you speak up when the rules point in a different direction. And when an audit or an old issue gets difficult, you stay composed and see it through.
Furthermore, we would imagine experience levels as follows:
You have broad corporate tax knowledge, ideally from an international setting
You have worked as a tax manager, or in a public accounting or tax advisory role, and know corporate tax compliance and procedures well
You have improved how a tax process works, not just kept it running
You want to build a strong compliance foundation for a growing company
Experience with US federal, state, and local tax, e-commerce, or alcohol taxation, and a qualification such as a CPA or a law degree (e.g. JD or LLM) are a bonus, not a requirement.
Even if you do not check every single box, we still want to hear from you.
